Happy New Years 2018! Let's start the new year with a new 30 day challenge. This is not really a new challenge but rather a continuing challenge. Since I started 3rd year at UofA in Sept. 2017, I decided to create a habit journal. I've continued each month since. It's super easy and stress relieving to make. You can decorate and customize it however you want and it keeps you accountable for your work. I always reward myself at the end of the month with a Starbucks ice cappuccino to keep me going. This is just an example of one of my logging journals. I have 3 different journals to track my mood, habits, and amount of sleep.
This is my challenge for this year. This year I'm going to be more positive. I'm going to tackle everything with an open mind. I want to build relationships that last. I'll start by learning and remembering people's names. It's scientifically proven that if you think positively, your brain will be rewired with more positive thoughts and you'll make more and stronger positive connections between brain cells. You can biologically change your attitude and way of thinking. I can't lie and say 2017 wasn't a hard year for me. I've had to face a lot of challenges with broken and lost relationships, balancing my romantic relationship with William and Phil, stresses with coping with physical and mental health after learning that my epilepsy is permanent, my struggles with loneliness, even suicidal thoughts at times, trying to balancing school stress grade pressures and my parents expectations, maintaining an active social life, and my continual struggles with my dance attitude, relationship with my parents, settling into a new church environment, making new friends, accepting and being comfortable with singleness, my friends graduating and leaving me behind, UofA financial appeal, career uncertainty for the future, loss of personal identity, and my spiritual struggles with God. However, this year has also had some wonderful highlights. I made many new friends and memories with people at ihouse such as Vicki, Eesha, Phil, Peter and many others. We went on a trip to Logan's place and Vicki's house. I got to go back to China and visit my grandparents after 5 years. I got to see my hometown after over 10 years and visit my old house. I got to see my best friend's dad get remarried and Miya engaged, and now bride to be. I got to spend time with Kristen and Bess. I met Shay and she's been so helpful with my studies at NAIT. I had really great teammates for my Project Management class. I competed in an internal case competition for the first time. I found a new church community to call my home at McKernan Baptist Church. There is so much I am thankful for. There are even more events to look forward to this year. On Jan. 14 I'm going to the McKernan Young Adults Converge Retreat. I'm going to Break Forth Conference on the 27th where Hillsing will be performing. It's the year of the dog, my year. If you didn't know, I was born 1 day before Chinese New Years. I'll be turning 23. I haven't given up on my start-up ideas and I want to get some of them off the ground. I'll be taking some interesting new classes. I plan on going to more Business Conferences and seminars. Sophia and I are planning a trip to the mountains to go hiking, see the ice fields, and chill in the hot springs during Winter Reading Break. There is so much to look forward to. Here's to the start of the January 30 Day Challenge. I'll be keeping you up to date on my progress. I recommend making your own log and keeping along with me. We can do it together and keep each other accountable :). If you want to see full Jan log, click here for more information. You can print it off directly. For monthly logs, click here. There's only January up so far but I plan to put more logs for the entire year soon.
